Island Publishing undertake small scale work in general publishing. Originally formed to do pre-press work for catalogues, exhibition guides, menus etc., plus Web pages for small businesses the interests of the proprietor have evolved. That work is still done, when requested. The proprietor (John New) is a photographer and author with several published non-fiction and fiction stories and articles to his name
Main current activities at Island Publishing concern research and publication of material relating to the UK's early railways and Elizabethan/Stuart period coal mining. See Waggonway Research Circle pages and SLS_early_railways Several drafts for further children's books and railway related topics are available for publication. John also has a series of lectures/film shows available for showing.
Island Publishing also sponsors web space for the Wessex Association of Model Railway Clubs. Additionally Island Publishing designed and continue to maintain the web sites for the Stephenson Locomotive Society together with sites for York Model Railway Show, Waggonway Research Circle, Weymouth & District Photographic Society and WOW (Weymouth) hosted on Orange (Formerly Freeserve / Wanadoo).
This site's make over is continuing as time permits. The old style pages are being moved over from the former site URL and will all be modernised as time permits.
