(All railway related subjects) Page last 6thJanuary 2012 - regarding Fotopic.
On line - Fotopic galleries - since Fotopic failed I have been waiting in the hope that the announced rescue package would actually materialise. Although I have now given up any realistic hope that a rescue will occur er the twofold problem of the fact that I don't like the look on screen of most of the available commercial/proprietary options like Flikr (why I was using fotopic in the first place) and lack of time to develop something myself from scratch using the album software that is out there remains. 2012 might see a return of my on-line galleries but it is unlikely in the short term. Exhibition displays
I have a set of professional quality display boards with lighting. This page gives basic details of the photographic exhibitions either already prepared or work in progress. In 2006 & 2007 I concentrated on preparing several new digitally projected shows. For 2008 I therefore prepared a new exhibition called "A Yorkshire selection" which debuted at the 2008 York Model Rly Show..
Existing shows have new material regularly added to vary the display when the displays are re-booked.
"A Yorkshire selection" - . As I have been photographing aspects of the Yorkshire railscene since 1962, and seriously since the mid-1970s, a new print collection covering Yorkshire was ultimately envitable. This will cover the Yorkshire railscene past and current and will be regualarly updated with pictures rotated as appropriate. The launch show in 2008 featured a blend of steam, diesel and electric traction from several date periods. The traction shown will cover varying weather conditions and both regular service and preservation contexts. Additional material added during late 2009.
"Steam + heat = steam" A selection of photographs of the steam locomotive in action at several locations throughout the country. The selection can be varied for return visits."Beyond three quarter front" A look at aspects of railway photography beyond the usual visual, three quarter front, approach.
"A compact collection." - A selection of printed photographs taken with compact cameras, shown at A3 size. Reason for the collection is to show the contemporary scene. Additionally it shows how good images can be taken without the need for an expensive SLR and the benefits of keeping a camera with you when traveling.
“WWW – World Wide Web or is it?” A selection of my photographs taken over roughly a forty year period of the route from Waterloo to Weymouth and the W’s on route. Launched in October 2005 the shown selection will be variable. On-going work in progress as further archive material is scanned/printed.
Future projects
Railways of York - A look at the history of this fascinating rail centre. Withdrawn as a proposed "near future" print display as it has been replaced by "A Yorkshire collection". Expected to appear ultimately as a talk with an anticipated title of "Pylons and poplars!"
