Where have they gone to?!

This section contains the names of organisations where the links that I had were inactive when last tested. If you know of a current live URL for one, or all, of these organisations please let me know.

Updated to 9 June 2009 - entries below were deleted or moved into this section pending future deletion for the reasons stated.

Bournemouth Diesel & Electric Railway Modellers : Bderm  Site dead when tested on 9 June 2009.

North Mersey Show - Reports page cannot be found.

ZTC - reactivated in to the traders section following take over by new owners.

Advance notice - The free provider Geocities has announced it is closing later this year.  Expect some sites across the internet to disappear at that stage.

Update policy, recent changes to this page etc.

Update cycle:-

All links are scanned using link checking software at roughly two-monthly intervals. Any links reported by the checking software as faulty are then checked manually and either repaired or moved into the "where have they gone" section pending deletion. However before you shout at me/us please remember that a dead link is entirely the fault of the site that has gone without leaving a forwarding message on their old site!  If you maintain a website please remember that we don't know if you move home and cannot mind read!

Where information is found on outdated links giving the replacement URL the link is corrected.  A big thank you to those sensible webmasters.  Unfortunately I do find messages like this "This website has been removed. If you have a bookmark or a link to this page, please remove these as this page will disappear shortly."   From time to time content on pages changes, for example a URL is sold/is for sale and I apologise for instances where this is not spotted; as the URL exists the checking software does not spot that as a fault.

Recent activity on this page -

9 June - Full page rebuild with new, and more relevant, groupings by topic replacing the older alphabetical listings. Several new links added and the links checker software run post rebuild - 163 entries checked and the only reported faulty links from this page are those in the "Where have they gone" section.

15 Mar - New link to EM Gauge Society added.  All 2008 updates references removed from list below as now obsolete.

9 Mar - Link for Railway Club (The) removed as the club is closing down and not accepting new memberships. .

3 Mar - One link updated (TRAC) as I was advised of the changed URL. Three new links added for Narrow Gauge Forum | Miniature Railway World Forum . & Oakwood Press

24 Feb - Full links check run and any adjustments made therefore all links above show as OK.  Update to Nottingham MRS name.  Earlier update logs deleted.  I no longer use newsgroups and have given up on Web Ring due to persistent hassle from their code changing therefore the previous link recommendations relating to them deleted. New links added into the section covering forums (or is it fora?)   Earlier update logs deleted.
